Review the Scriptures and consider the questions as you reflect on Gideon’s story-My Eyes are on You

When God Finds Us Hiding
1. Where do we find Gideon in the opening of this story? What does that say to you about WHERE he is threshing the wheat? Consider that a winepress is in a cave or a sunken area and not out in the open where the wind could separate the chaff and the grain.
2. In what moments of fear or weakness has God met you, as He did Gideon? Recall a time when His strength carried you beyond your own limitations.
3. Now, consider how God has used “winepress” moments as opportunities in your life.

The God Who Sees Beyond Our Weakness
1. God didn’t deny Gideon’s excuses, but He answered them with His presence and assurances. “The Lord is with you”, “Have I not sent you”, and “Surely I will be with you.” Which of these three assurances speaks most to you when you face God’s calling?
2. In verse 12, God calls Gideon a valiant warrior—a mighty man of valor—yet at this point, Gideon is not acting like either. God, however, sees beyond Gideon’s fear to who he truly is and who he will become in His hands as Gideon commits himself to God’s calling.
What holds you back from viewing yourself through God’s eyes rather than your own? In what ways does this perspective influence how you respond when He calls?
“We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on You.”

Fixing Our Eyes on God
1. In 2 Chronicles 20, King Jehoshaphat faced an overwhelming army, just as Gideon did. Unable to see a way forward, he confessed his weakness before God and prayed, “But our eyes are on You.”
What does it mean for you today to keep your eyes on Him when you cannot see what lies ahead? How does that change the way you walk forward?
2. How can you remind yourself daily that the One who calls you also equips you?
Take time today to examine an area of your life where you need to fix your eyes firmly on God’s plan. Has He called you to a place of surrender—where you must release what you cannot do so that He can accomplish what only He can?
He already sees the valiant warrior He is calling you to become. If He has called you, He has sent you, and He will be with you.Oh Lord, help us to keep our eyes on You!
