Encourage- The Lord’s Purposes’ Prevail
The new year invites a time of personal reflection, goal setting and examination of what we would like to accomplish over the next year. We often make plans, mapping out what we hope lies ahead.
Planning in itself is not wrong. In fact we are told scripturally that we are to be prudent and wise. Proverbs 21:5 reminds us that we are to be thoughtful and that diligence has value. Yet even wise planning requires us to pause and ask a deeper question….
Are my plans aligned with the Lord’s purposes?
“The heart of a person plans their way, but the Lord establishes their steps.” Proverbs 16:9
These verses invite us to pause and consider before we even commit those plans to pen and paper if our hearts are aligned with the One who sees the whole path; the One who has a better plan for us than we could ever make for ourselves. When we commit ourselves and submit to the Lord, we aren’t giving up our hopes, dreams and desires but rather we are trusting the One who has our best interest at the core of His heart.
As this new year begins, may we hold our plans with an open hand, giving our plans over to God and asking Him where He is leading. He is steady. He is faithful. His plans are sure for you!
