There are times when the heaviness of life feels overwhelming – when sin, sorrow, weakness, failure and even fear seem to have the final word.
Scripture does not ignore that these are realities of life. Throughout the Bible, we read of men and women who faced heartache, rejection, suffering, and threat. And throughout Scripture, we also see moments of turning points where everything changes – because of two powerful words: But God.
These two words remind us that what overwhelms us does not overwhelm Him.
Where we see limits, God brings His great mercy.
Where we see endings, God sees new beginnings.
Where we see bondage, God sees redemption.
And where we see that there is no way forward, God shows Himself to be steady, present, able and faithful.
But God is the assurance that no circumstance is beyond His reach and no story is beyond His care.
“There is no pit so deep that God’s love is not deeper still.”

As you read the verses below, allow each But God moment in Scripture to strengthen your heart. They speak of protection, provision, salvation and hope.
The same God who intervened then, is still at work now.
Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Where sin once condemned, God intervened with love – offering salvation through Christ.
Genesis 50:20 “You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good…”
What others intend for harm, God redeems for His good and for His purposes.
1 Samuel 23:14 “Saul sought him every day, but God did not give him into his hand.”
God’s protection is often unseen as He restrains what threatens His people.
Psalm 73:26 “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
When human strength fails, God remains completely able as our stead.
May these verses remind you—
that God is always at the turning point.
